Michael Anthony Errede, 91

Shrewsbury – Michael Anthony Errede, 91, of Shrewsbury, a longtime Worcester educator, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton after a short illness.

Michael was born in Worcester on June 10, 1921 to Felix and Rose Errede, where he graduated from North High School. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 to serve his country during World War II as a Medical Technician. After the Service, Michael earned his Bachelor degree in American History from Clark University and went on to earn his Master’s degree in Education from Michigan State University. Michael met and married his wife of the next 58 years Teresa (Carlomagno) Errede. Together they moved to Shrewsbury to raise his family.

His wife Teresa passed away in 2008. He is survived by his two devoted children, Maureen Bumann and her husband Eric of Lunenburg, Joseph Errede and his wife Lisa of Londonderry N.H. He is also survived by two devoted grandsons, Joseph Liberty and Nicholas Errede. Michael is survived by his brother, Alfred Errede of Shrewsbury and his sister, Mary Teso of Holden, and extended family and friends. A brother Vito Errede and a sister Dorothy Orcott predeceased him.

Michael worked in education more than 34 years and retired in 1985. He taught 4th and 5th grade to numerous amounts of children passing through Lake View School in Worcester and was also the lead in producing many of the Lake View Christmas plays.

He was a member of St Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury, a member of the Catholic Alumnae Association of Holy Cross, and a member of the National Education Teachers Association.

Friends and relatives are invited to a period of visitation Tuesday, Sept. 4 from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester. His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in St Mary’s Church, 640 Main St. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, 191 Foster St., Littleton, MA 01460.
