Emil DuPont, 1932 – 2012

Northborough – Emil “Bill” DuPont passed away at his home Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 after a long illness.

A resident of Northborough and proud Navy Veteran, Bill coached Pop Warner football for many seasons before becoming a high school referee. He was a major influence on many of the young athletes he coached, and maintained lasting friendships with many of them throughout their lives. Bill was also a loyal fan of the Marlborough Shamrocks Semi-Pro Football team, and showed his support and dedication by never missing a single game.

Born and raised in the Hudson/Marlborough area, Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Juliette Sweeten DuPont, and faithful dog, Rocky. He also leaves many nieces and nephews in both Massachusetts and Florida, his friends Eddie Roman and his family of Shrewsbury, and the Dorey family of Northborough. His remarkable relationship with Lawrence, Peter, Patrick, Beth, Larry and their children will always be treasured.

Bill was an avid Ham radio enthusiast for many years, and a dedicated member of the Yankee Appaloosa Horse Club. In June 1993, Bill retired from MIT’s Millstone after a 34-year career.

Bill will always be remembered for his dedicated friendship and his quiet and calm nature that made everyone he met feel at ease.

At Bill’s request, services will be held privately. Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, is assisting the DuPont family with arrangements.
