Joan A. E. Gresham, 73
Westborough - Joan A. E. Gresham, 73, of Westborough, passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at the UMass Memorial Healthcare – University Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of Oscar L. Gresham.
Born in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Emma (Johnson) Anthony. She was a graduate of Spellman College in Atlanta and earned a master’s degree in Physical Education at Syracuse University.
Joan was a physical education teacher in Georgia, and then became a swim instructor at the Syracuse YWCA in New York. After moving to Westborough, she worked as a tennis and swim instructor at the Worcester Swim Club. Most recently, she worked as a property manager.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Juli-Marie Gresham of Westborough; one son, Richard A. Gresham and his wife, Lujuana, of Fontana, CA; and four grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, at 10:00 a.m., in the Congregational Church of Westborough, West Main Street. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery. Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Wednesday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
