Local drivers get crash course

Northborough – The ramps connecting routes 9 and 20, near Northborough Crossing and the Avalon apartments, are so poorly designed that Northborough Police Chief Mark Leahy has asked the Massachusetts Department of Transportation to help redesign them. He wants to prevent the frequent accidents there, mostly rear-enders, resulting from an unexpected stop sign and the lack of an acceleration lane.

Due to increased traffic load, accidents on the ramps are up more than 250 percent, year to date, over the same period two years ago.
