Vernon L. Wager Jr., 71

Hudson – Vernon L. Wager Jr., 71, of Hudson, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at his residence in Hudson. He was the husband of the late Eloise (McGorty) Wager, who died in 2008.

Vernon was born and raised in Hudson, son of the late Vernon and Rita (Allen) Wager. He attended local schools and was a 1958 graduate of Hudson High School. He served in the U.S. Navy until being honorably discharged. He worked in transportation and ice cream sales throughout his life until his retirement. He was a charter member of the Hudson Amvets Post 208, and member of the Hudson American Legion.

He is survived by his son, Vern “Tony” Wager of Maynard; his daughter, Patrice Wager of Grapevine, TX; his two sisters, Rita Flaherty of Hudson and Mary McQuillan of Marblehead; and his brother, Tony Stankus of Arkansas. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 18, at 9:00 a.m., in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial services will follow in Saint Michael’s Cemetery, Hudson. Calling hours will be held Monday, Sept. 17, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
