Congetta Simone, 91Shrewsbury – Congetta Rose “Connie” (DiTerlizzi) Simone, 91, a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, friend and lifelong Shrewsbury resident, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012 with her family gathered beside her. Her husband, Maurice “Mike” Simone, passed away on August 17, 1982.

She is survived by the family she loved so much and who loved her: her son Michael Simone and his wife Louise of Shrewsbury; Tommie and his wife Lori of Worcester and her daughter and best friend, Angela Buzzell and her husband Jack of Holden; Connie also leaves her grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Jeffrey Sears of Sutton, Michael Simone of Shrewsbury, Tommie Simone, Dominic Simone and his wife Christina and Anthony Rinaldi all of Worcester; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Sears, Alessandra and Alessia Simone who she so dearly cherished; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Three brothers, Michael, Leo and George DiTerlizzi all pre deceased her.

Connie was born March 20, 1921 in Shrewsbury, the only daughter of four children of Francesco and Rosa (Simone) DiTerlizzi. She grew up in Shrewsbury, met and married her devoted husband Mike and together they raised their family in a loving Italian home in the White City section of Shrewsbury. She has lived in Shrewsbury her entire life.

She worked for Mattero's Bakery for 30 years and then worked for Shaw's in the Bakery Department for 15 years, before retiring at the age of 75. Connie will always be known as a dedicated worker who took pride in her work and enjoyed meeting and greeting her many friends and customers.

She enjoyed spending time with her family especially for Sunday dinner, having coffee “and,” playing Scat, cooking, baking and reading. She was a beautiful woman who will forever be remembered by the people she met in her lifetime. Connie was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister and a true friend who held to her Italian Heritage and passed them on to her children and grandchildren.

Connie was a life member of St. Anne's Church, The Maria Addelorata Society, The Our Lady of Mt Carmel Golden Years and Our Lady of Sorrows Society.

Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m., in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester, before proceeding to St Anne's Church, 170 Boston Tpke., Shrewsbury, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial next to her husband and parents will follow in Mt. View Cemetery.

The Simone Family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Beaumont at University Commons long-term care center for the kindness, compassion and love showed to Connie, especially Chris, Kim, Mabel, Rose, Amelia and Jocelyn; You are forever in her hearts.
