Fall prevention conference to be held Oct. 30

Boxborough – Falls are the leading cause of serious injury for people over 65. Slipping and tripping are not normal parts of aging; simple steps and information can help prevent these dangerous accidents.

On Tuesday, Oct. 30, Emerson Hospital will sponsor free health screenings and workshops designed to help us all lead safer, healthier lives. The event, which includes complimentary lunch, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, 242 Adams Place in Boxborough.

Lilian Mikael, MD, an internist with Alpha Medical Associates in Concord, will present “Why Falls Matter and What You Can Do to Avoid Them.” Additional offerings include balance assessments; blood pressure, diabetes, neurological and foot screenings; and workshops discussing tips for staying safe at home, exercising and eating for better balance, minding your medications and healthcare proxies.

Seating is limited and registration is required. Call toll-free, 24 hours a day, at 1-877-9-Emerson (877-936-3776).
