Shrewsbury -  Bancroft School  has announced that senior Nimisha Patil, of Shrewsbury, has been honored as a National Merit Scholar Semifinalist.  More than 1.5 million students entered the 2013 National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors. As one of the 351 highest scoring entrants in Massachusetts, Patil will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for a National Merit Scholarship in the spring.

“I’m so proud of all of our kids,” said Jackie Lefebvre,  Bancroft’s Director of College Counseling. “Doing so well on a national exam like this is remarkable. Although advancing in the scholarship competition is difficult, I think Nimisha has a great chance to become a National Merit Finalist.”
