Dance Expressions float captures First Place

Shrewsbury – A brightly colored dance float created by the dancers from Laurene Aldorisio's Academy of Dance Expressions, 45 East Main St., Westborough, won First Place in the 2012 Spirit of Shrewsbury Parade. Under the direction of dance mom Alex Toso, dancers and parents assembled over 500 paper flowers, hung fringe, painted banners, and danced their way down the streets of Shrewsbury. Participating dancers included Karly and Brittany Terra, Olivia Toso, Adrianna and Katerina Loulourgas, Mercedes Vacca, Meredith Coffey, Jenna Merendino, Lauren Earley, Lilly Earley, Emily Herz, Teagan O”Leary, Kathryn Smith, Alice Reh, Maddy Walters, Alexa Erickson, Angelina Leandres, Ariel Terra, Meghan Campbell, Jaime Durkin, and Michelle Withee.

 

 

Harvest Craft Fair at Shrewsbury First Congregational Church

Shrewsbury – Saturday, Nov. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the First Congregational Church of Shrewsbury will be holding its biennial church fair featuring handmade knitted items and crafts, baked goods, jams and jellies, jewelry, holiday table, cookie walk, flea market, silent auction, and more.? Breakfast and lunch foods will be available for purchase, also.? All proceeds benefit the ministries of the church. The church is located at 19 Church Rd.

 

Designer Jewelers is Toys for Tots drop-off site

Westborough – Family-owned Designer Jewelers has joined with the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots in the spirit of giving this holiday season. For every unwrapped new toy brought into the store, Designer Jewelers will match every toy donated. Local toy collection campaigns begin in October and last until mid- to late-December. While Toys for Tots Coordinators organize, coordinate and manage the campaign, the ultimate success depends on the support of the local community and the generosity of the people who donate toys. Anyone interested can donate a new unwrapped toy through Dec. 15 at Designer Jewelers, 18 Lyman St. (Westboro Shopping Center), Westborough, Mondays through Fridays, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

 

November events at Briarwood

Worcester – Briarwood Continuing Care Retirement Community invites the community to its November programs, including the Senior Songsters Nov. 13, the Nashaway Trio Nov. 15, “Aria Sing” Nov. 18, “Silent Movie Piano” Nov. 20, and Art Matters Nov. 27. All the events and programs start at 2 p.m. in the Birches Auditorium, and are subject to change due to weather and circumstances beyond Briarwood's control.
