Westborough -The Westborough Woman’s Club is pleased to announce their sponsorship of the Shrewsbury-Westborough 2012 Women In Science program for girls. Lisa Greenwald discussed the program and thanked the club for its support at their recent meeting.  This is the fifth year for Westborough and Shrewsbury middle school girls to attend the day long program.

The 200 girls can choose from 20 workshops, most based on STEM and medical information.  Each girl also receives a drawstring bag with the sponsors’ logos, items for each girl and lunch.  Presenters included college professors, dentist, doctors, female engineers, veterinarians and technology specialists.

STEM refers to the fields of study in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  Many schools are now teaching them in integrated curriculum. The program provides girls an opportunity to discuss these topics in action in many related jobs.
