Pedestrian struck by vehicle on Route 9 Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Police Department has released a statement concerning a pedestrian reportedly struck by a car on Route 9 yesterday:

On Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 at 5:42 P.M. the Shrewsbury Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle. The pedestrian and vehicle operator were on scene when Officers arrived. Officers determined the pedestrian was crossing Rt. 9 from the median across the West bound lane when he was struck.

The operator of the 2005 Subaru Legacy was Joann Carson, PO Box 181, Canton, Ma 56 years old. The operator was not injured. The pedestrian was identified as Joseph Liberty, Homeless, 58 years old. The pedestrian was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester. The injuries to the pedestrian do not appear to be life threatening.

The accident remains under investigation by Officer Nicholas P. Perna of the Shrewsbury Police Dept.
