Westborough CARES offers support for residents in need

Westborough – Several Westborough-based organizations have recently formed a new coalition designed to help more effectively coordinate their respective resources to help residents in need. The partnership, Westborough CARES, is a collaboration of Forbes Kirkside Foundation, In Your Shoes, St. Luke’s Outreach Program, Westborough Senior Center Outreach, and Westborough Youth and Family Services (WYFS). As such, the initiative will help to provide charitable giving, advocacy, referrals, and educational resources.

Westborough CARES has a created a listing of local organizations that donate directly to Westborough families in need. Residents are invited to review this list for local charitable giving ideas this holiday season.

Westborough Food Pantry: Provides food weekly for families in need. Go to westboroughfoodpantry.org for needed items or to make a monetary donation. Items can be dropped at Roche Bros, or the Fire Station, 42 Milk St. Contact 508-366-3007 or P.O. Box 502, Westborough, webmaster@westboroughfoodpantry.

Westborough Fuel Assistance Fund: Provides financial assistance for families having difficulty paying fuel bills. Contact: Alma DeManche, Senior Center Rogers Rd, 508-366-3000, ademanche@town.westborough.ma.us .

Interfaith Giving Tree: Sponsored by the Church of St. Luke the Evangelist, Evangelical Congregational Church, First United Methodist Church, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and Unitarian Universalist Church.  Provides children in need with gifts of clothing or toys regardless of faith community affiliation. Contact 508-366-8509 or outreach@st.lukes-parish.org.

Free Holiday Store: Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Westborough and Westborough Youth and Family Services.  Provides children in need with free toys and books.  Contact WYFS at 508-366-3090 or yfs@town.westborough.ma.us. Website is  www.town.westborough.ma.us/holidaystore.

Westborough Senior Outreach Giving Program: Provides holiday gifts for Westborough Seniors in need.  Contact 508-366-3000 or mcorcoran@town.westborough.ma.us.

In Your Shoes Westborough: A non-profit giving circle, working to contribute time, talents and monetary resources to Westborough residents in need.  Contact: tgavinfam5@aol.com, PO Box 19, Westborough. www.inyourshoeswestborough.com.

Asabet Valley Pastoral Counseling Center Assistance Fund: subsidizes counseling fees for families in need.  Contact 508-366-4000 or 8 Church St.
