The C.A. six tips of the day for Nov. 20

Region – Today is Tuesday, Nov. 20, the 325th day of 2012.

On this day in 1968, 78 men were killed when methane gas caused explosions in a West Virginia coal mine. The damage was so severe that the mine had to be sealed with the bodies of the men still inside it.

On this day in 1992, a fire broke out at Windsor Castle in England, causing over $79 million dollars in damage.

And on this day in 2003, music producer Phil Spector was indicted in the murder of actress Lana Clarkson.

Born on this day:  the late Robert F. Kennedy (1925); Joe Biden (1942) and Bo Derek (1956).

1. The Westborough Police and Fire Departments are holding a drive this week to collect items for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

2. The Friends of Southborough Recreation will hold the 6th annual Gobble Wobble Run (5K), Walk (2 miles) or Wobble Thanksgiving morning,  Nov. 22, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the Trottier Middle School.
