St. Mary’s Church of Grafton holds bike drive

Grafton – St. Mary’s Church of Grafton is sponsoring “Bikes going to Africa” in a bicycle collection drive for the towns of Grafton, Westborough and Northborough. The collection drive will be held until Saturday, Dec. 15. Anyone wanting to donate old/newer mountain, road, BMX, adult or kids bike is welcome to participate. Bikes will be fixed, if needed, and reused. Most bikes will be going to Ghana, Africa, where they are very much needed.

Bikes provide power and opportunity, allowing people to lift themselves from poverty.  Riding a bike is four times faster than walking and is the only choice for millions of Africans. People with bikes get to schools, markets, farms and health care in one-fourth the time, improving their lives and economic futures.

Residents interested in donating a bike can send their email address to J.wood36@yahoo.com or call 508-277-6728 to arrange a convenient pick-up of their bike(s) at their home or business.
