Hudson – Maria L. (Alves) Vasconcelos, 77, of Hudson, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, at Wingate at Sudbury. She was the beloved wife of the late Abilio R. Vasconcelos, who died in 2001.

Maria was born and raised in Beca, Portugal, daughter of the late Acacio and Deolinda (Lage) Alves. She has resided in Hudson the past 42-plus years after moving from Portugal. She was employed for many years by the former Thomas Taylor and Son's of Hudson.

Maria took great pride in her family and especially enjoyed all the times she spent assisting with the care of her two loving grandchildren. She also enjoyed her frequent walks with her sister, Eugenia, and knitting special items she shared with her family. She was a member of Saint Michael's Parish in Hudson.

The family of Maria is eternally grateful for the loving care extended to her by all the staff at Wingate for the short time she was in their care.

She is survived by her four children, Alice Bettencourt-Haynes and her husband David Haynes of Hudson, Victor Vasconcelos of Portugal, Abilio Vasconcelos of Marlborough, and Dennis Vasconcelos and his wife Joley Mills of Shrewsbury. She is also survived by her sister, Eugenia Matos of Hudson; her two grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica Bettencourt of Hudson, and her nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Adelade Matias and Joao Lage.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 9:00 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery, Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Monday, Dec. 3, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.
