The C.A. six tips of the day for Dec. 7

Region – Today is Friday, Dec. 7, the 342nd day of 2012.

On this day in 1941, hundreds of Japanese warplanes attacked the American base, Pearl Harbor. A total of 2,400 American troops and civilians were killed; another 1,200 were wounded.

On this day in 1787 Delaware became the nation’s first state after ratifying the U.S. Constitution.

And on this day in 1982, Charles Brooks, Jr. became the first person to be executed by lethal injection in the United States.

Happy birthday today to singer  Sara Bareilles (1979); Boston Celtics superstar, Larry Bird (1956); and Boston Bruins great, Gerry Cheevers (1940).  

Chabad of Westborough will sponsor its annual public Menorah Lighting and Chanukah Celebration Saturday, Dec. 9, in Shrewsbury and Sunday, Dec. 9, in Westborough.

St. Mary School, 16 Summer St., Shrewsbury, will hold its annual Holly Fair Saturday,  Dec. 8, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
