Although I appreciate Sarah's writing this article, there are a number of points and quotes that are incorrect. For one, I am still the Cantor at Temple Beth Sholom of Framingham, a position that doesn't interfere with my serving as Rabbi at Temple Emanuel. Also, I'm not sure what was intended exactly by the statement "We don't read the Bible. We 'cant' the Bible." I believe she meant "chant the bible," although the word cantillation does refer to biblical chant. Finally, although Emanuel and its school welcomes all people to join with us in prayer and study, my work with individuals with special needs takes place through my graduate teaching at Hebrew College as well as my clinical work, not Temple Emanuel per se.
