Worcester/Shrewsbury – Viola M. Hull, 91, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012 in her daughter's home in Shrewsbury, surrounded by her loving family.
She leaves her children, Kenneth C. Hull and his wife Judith of Leicester, Jean C. Hull of Dudley, J. Michael Hull of Worcester, Katherine V. Zollo and Robert Zollo of Brimfield, Judith A. Sullivan and her husband Paul of Shrewsbury, Joanne M. Brote and her husband Raymond of Shrewsbury, and Jane V. Tremblay and her husband, Edward of Brimfield; her daughter-in-law, Wendy J. Quinlan and her husband, Peter Quinlan; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a niece and a nephew. She was predeceased by a son, John J. Contonio, and a sister, Katherine Danford.
Viola was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Charles and Delia (Barnard) Hull. She graduated from St. Anthony's Catholic School in Worcester, and was a Worcester resident all of her life.
She worked for W.T. Grants for many years until it closed. She then worked at Guaranty Bank until retiring at age 66 in 1987. She was a faithful member of Saint Anne's Parish in Shrewsbury for 28 years.
Viola loved her family above all else. She enjoyed spending time at Cape Cod in the summer and shopping. Her happiest times occurred when she was surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She loved music, singing and listening to her grandchildren perform. Viola enjoyed playing Gin Rummy and going to the casinos.
She had a dry sense of humor, a sharp sense of fashion, and always had ruby red lips and nails. Viola will be greatly missed, but remembered always with great love, affection, and laughter.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Viola's family Thursday, Jan. 3, from 5 to 8 p.m., in Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. Her funeral service will be held Friday, Jan. 4 from the funeral home, with her funeral Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Saint John's Cemetery of Worcester.
Viola's family asked flowers be omitted and donations be made either to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
