Kelly Urmston makes Dean’s List at Messiah College

Grantham, Penn. – Westborough resident Kelly Urmston was named to the dean’s list for the 2012 fall semester at Messiah College. Urmston is a junior majoring in nursing. Dean’s list is earned by receiving a 3.6 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale.

SYFS director to move to Big Brothers Big Sisters

Shrewsbury – After nearly four decades as the executive director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Mass./Metrowest Inc. (BBBSCM) Shrewsbury resident Ben Ticho will be leaving that post later this month. His replacement will be another Shrewsbury resident, Jeffrey Chin, who Ticho said he believes is a “great choice” as the agency prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary this spring.

‘Merely players’ enjoy deliberating Shakespeare’s works

Shrewsbury – More than 20 years ago, one of Corinne Wood’s Shrewsbury friends coaxed her into attending a session of the Shakespeare Club of Grafton. After that, Wood didn’t need any encouragement to go. She’s been making the short trek from Shrewsbury to Grafton for the meetings ever since. The club is composed of area people who take pleasure in reading and exploring the Bard’s works. Members convene twice monthly from mid-September to mid-May at the Brigham Hill Community Barn to read plays.

Shrewsbury students sing for ’26 Angels’

Five Shrewsbury students participate in a video tribute for the victims of the Newtown massacre.

Region – Like millions of people around the globe, singer/songwriter Justin Cohen was devastated by the senseless murders of 20 children and six adults in the Newtown, Conn. massacre in December. Out of that grief, he wrote the song, “26 Angels.”
