Teacher selected as “Unsung Hero”

Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury High School teacher Jill Carter was selected as an Unsung Hero in the St. Michael's College Teacher Recognition Program.

Jerry Flanagan, St. Michael's vice president for Admission and Enrollment Management, praised Carter's work.

“Through this program, we honor those teachers who provide their students with the academic skills and moral support necessary to be successful in post-secondary pursuits,” Flanagan said.

Carter was nominated by Jenna Maksian, a Shrewsbury High School graduate, and a current first-year student at St. Michael's College.

“Mrs. Carter has a great teaching style and connects well with not only me, but the rest of the students at Shrewsbury,” Maksian said. “Although science isn’t my favorite subject, she made the subject more enjoyable for me and made me want to learn.”

“We feel very fortunate to have Jenna Maksian as a member of our community,” Flanagan added. “I hope that the best and brightest from Shrewsbury High School will continue to come to St. Michael's College.”
