Date for miscellaneous state police examinations announced

Region – The Massachusetts Human Resources Division has scheduled the Municipal Service Police Officer, MBTA Transit Police Officer, and State Trooper examination for Saturday, April 20.

The deadline to register for the exam is Monday, March 18.  Applicants for Municipal Service Police and MBTA Transit Police officer positions must be non-smokers and 21 years old by Saturday, April 20, 2013.  Applicants for State Trooper positions must also be non-smokers, and be between 21 and 35 years of age by Monday, April 1, 2013.

To apply for any of the three officer positions, a high school diploma or equivalency certificate approved by the Massachusetts Department of Education is required.  Candidates must pass medical and physical exams for all three positions, and must pass an additional psychological component for the State Trooper position.  Applicants for Municipal Service and MBTA Transit Police positions qualify with three years of experience in the armed forces of the United States with last release or discharge under honorable conditions.  Women, minorities, veterans and individuals with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Individuals may apply online at www.mass.gov/civilservice.  There will be an application fee that can be paid online.  Applications received after Monday, March 18, 2013, but before Monday, April 1, 2013 will be accepted with an additional processing fee.  Additional information can be found at www.mass.gov/civilservice or by calling 617-878-9895, or for applicants outside of the Boston area: 1-800-392-6178.
