Westborough – The students at the Annie E. Fales Elementary School received a special treat Feb. 26. They were invited to see the debut of a one-act play, “Green Eggs and Hams,” performed by Bruce Tretter and his son, Zach.

the show, based on the beloved Dr. Seuss classic, was timed in conjunction with the school celebrating Read Across America (RAA), an annual initiative of the National Education Association to promote the love of reading at an early age.

Bruce, who is also a member of the Westborough School Committee, noted that he has participated in local RAA efforts as a guest reader ever since his son Max, who is now 21, was in third grade.

“Then I thought it would be fun to do plays as well,” he said.

As such, he and his sons have performed a number of plays over the years for the town’s young students.

Zach, 16, is a sophomore at Westborough High School (WHS) and participates in the school’s drama productions. Two other WHS students, Travis Beaney and Cam Milewski, helped with the scenery and live production, Bruce said.

The Tretters will be taking their show to the town’s other schools over the next few weeks.
