Shrewsbury – Delaware Valley Floral Group (DVFlora), a floral distribution company, is the newest business to locate to the Hills Farm Industrial Park. Local officials, as well as members of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce, joined representatives from the company to celebrate the grand opening of the new location March 20.

The company, based in Sewell, N.J., purchases flowers and related products from around the world. They are then shipped to New Jersey where they are packed into refrigerated trucks and transported to one of the company's six distribution centers, which then in turn service local retail florists.

Karyn Polito, whose family business, Polito Development Corp., owns the industrial park, said DVFlora, itself a third generation family-owned business, was the “right fit for the park.” She also thanked the local town officials who worked with the company to help expedite the process of opening the new location.

“It's not often that we can celebrate a good thing in this economy,” she added.

Jack Chidester, the company's CEO, noted the new location would help DVFlora better service the New England area, particularly Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

“We will better be able to deliver earlier and reliably every day to our retail customers,” he said.

The new distribution center is currently 5,000 square feet. There are plans to expand an additional 3,000 square feet, Chidester said.
