Celebrating Arbor Day in Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – Shrewsbury Electric and Cable Operations (SELCO) held its eight annual Arbor Day celebration April 27. First, 600 free trees were given to SELCO customers at the Town Common. Among organizations distributing information were the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project, Sherwood Middle School Green Squad, Shrewsbury Garden Club, Shrewsbury Recycles and United States Department of Agriculture. Next, families were invited to attend an Animal Adventures presentation at the Shrewsbury Public Library. Children had the chance to pet some live animals that are considered tree-friendly.

Brown's TV re-opens under new management

Northborough – For nearly 50 years, Brown's TV and Appliance was an iconic business in Northborough. When the owners, father Frank Jr. and sons Frank III and David, made the decision to close at the end of January, they, as well as the community at large, felt great sadness. But now the store has re-opened, under new owners who are another father-and-sons team.

It's almost time for the 11th Westborough Spring Festival

Westborough – Plans are now being finalized for the 11th Annual Westborough Spring Festival, which will be held Friday, May 3, through Sunday, May 5.

The festival is hosted by the Rotary Club of Westborough, but Co-Chairs Carol Burtt Borglund and Betsy Moquin said it has become an event that “truly involves residents, organizations and businesses from all sectors of the town.”
