Worcester – The Algonquin Regional High School Tomahawks boys’ lacrosse team played host to its central Mass. rival, the St. John's High School Pioneers, at Assumption College in Worcester May 18.
The Pioneers’ Hunter Burdick scored first while the Tomahawks’ Matthew Larsen evened the score at 1-1 with his goal. ?St. John's pulled ahead late in the first half and led 5-2 at the half-time mark.
In the second half, the Tomahawks climbed back, tying the game, 6-6, on a goal by Mike Wood. With that score standing at the end of regulation the two teams went into overtime. The Pioneers’ Patrick Ryan scored against Tomahawks’ goalie Giles Ober at the 1:59 mark to give St. John's the 7-6 win.
