Two-alarm fire in Marlborough causes extensive damage to home
A two- alarm fire tore through a single family home at 33 Bowstring Way, causing extensive damage in the basement area in the early morning hours of June 10th, 2013. Marlborough Fire Alarm received a 911 call from the resident stating that the basement was full of smoke.
Engine 3, Engine 1, Tower 1, Rescue 1 and Car 2 were dispatched. When Engine 3, the first due truck arrived, they reported that there was heavy smoke showing and requested the box be struck; Engine 2 responded to the fire as the rapid intervention team and Car 1 responded.
Off duty personnel were recalled on the box to staff the Marlborough Fire Department’s reserve engines. A second alarm was struck, bringing in mutual aid from Sudbury, Southborough and Northborough to cover Marlborough’s stations and to the fire.
The fire was placed under control, and extensive overhauling operations began to search the area and contents for any fire extension.
The family was transported to Marlborough Hospital by Patriot Ambulance as a precaution; there were no reported firefighter injuries.
The Marlborough Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit is conducting the investigation, the damages to the structure and contents are still being assessed.
