Worcester – The Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School Aztecs met the St. Mary's High School Spartans for the Mass. Division 3 state softball title June 15 at Rockwood Field on the campus of Worcester State University in Worcester.

The Aztecs scored one run in the first inning. After the Spartans scored one run in the third, the Aztecs exploded for four runs in their part of the third inning, aided by two Spartans errors. ?A series of pitching changes by St. Mary's held Assabet scoreless the rest of the game, but despite one more run by St. Mary's, that was all Assabet needed to win, 5-2.

The win was the first state title of any sport for Assabet.
