Women’s club presents scholarships, check

Shrewsbury – The Shrewsbury Women’s Club (SWC) recently presented scholarships during their annual meeting and luncheon at Wachusett Country Club. Avneet Soin (SHS), Anjali Puthanangady (SHS), and Nicholas Quitadamo (St. John’s), each received a $1,000 general scholarship. Education Chair Carole Marko presented the awards. The Mary Griffin Scholarship of $1,000 was presented to Kelsey Brenner (SHS) by Sherry Clark and Patrick Griffin, grandson of Mary Griffin.

The SWC also presented a check for $1,055 to the “You Go, Girl!” summer program of Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services, Inc. SYFS Interim Director Tom Kennedy accepted the check from SWC members Joan Frissora and Lynn DeSmet. The program, for girls 11 to 14, allows girls to enhance social skills through access to positive role models and female
