Marlborough – On June 18, at the New Horizons retirement community in Marlborough, residents joined in the assembly hall to be a part of its first June Bride Spectacular.?The event included a wedding gown display, a bridesmaids” dress fashion show, and wedding decorations.? Tables were adorned with centerpieces of pink roses, which were given away at the end of the event. The dresses were modeled by New Horizons employees.

The highlight of the event was the cake, supplied by Culinary Underground, a school for home cooks in Southborough. Chef Lori Leinbach, owner of the school was on hand, as well as chefs Heather Tolmie and Liz Della Paolera, who gave a cake decorating demonstration for the residents. The “cake” was a tower of cupcakes, each adorned with a swirl of light pink frosting and a sprinkle of glittering sugar. The residents enjoyed the demonstration and the beautiful confections, and were happy to get the chance to taste them.

“We love to get out of our kitchen and take our show on the road,” Chef Lori Leinbach said. “The residents at New Horizons were a great audience – even after a lifetime of cooking, they were still interested in learning something new.”
