Obit Carlene M. Sargent-LeonardNorthborough – Carlene M. Sargent-Leonard, 60, died Thursday,June 27, 2013, at home after a courageous, 10-year battle with breast cancer.

She leaves her devoted husband of 35 years, Chester Leonard; two loving sons, Michael and Chris Leonard both of Northborough; and aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her half-brother, Harvey Sargent.

Daughter of the late Harvey and Eileen (Duffy) Sargent, Carlene was a lifelong resident of Northborough. She graduated from Algonquin Regional High School in 1970 and Rivier College in New Hampshire. She went on to earn a Master's degree in Social Work from UConn and a Master's in Counseling from Anna Maria College.

She was employed at Quaboag Nursing Home in W. Brookfield. She worked 20 years at Milford Hospital as a social worker from 1976 – 1996. She went on to work as a therapist at Behavioral Medicine Inc. for eight years. As a consultant, she worked in many area nursing homes, including St. Chretienne's and St. Anne's Convents in Marlborough.

An active member of St. Bernadette Parish, she attended the annual Novena to Our Lady and received many blessings from it. Over the years, she loved to watch her boy's many sports events. She was an avid word game player who mastered games such as Scrabble and Boggle.

Carlene lived a simple and easy life around the School Street section of town with her extended, loving family, caring neighbors, and animals.

Carlene's funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, July 1, at 10:00 a.m., in St. Bernadette Church, 266 Main St., Northborough. Burial will follow in Howard Street Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Bernadette Religious Education, 266 Main St., Northborough, MA 01532.
