Northborough Police arrest Worcester man after B&E, altercation with K-9
Northborough Police officers responded to an apartment at 39 Pleasant Street for a report of an unwanted male party who had broken into the apartment. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim and the reporting party outside of the apartment. The suspect was identified as Giovannluis Rodriguez, 21 of Worcester. Officers learned that the victim’s mother was still inside of the apartment with Rodriguez. Prior to Northborough police officers gaining entry to the apartment Rodriguez fled out the back of the apartment. Some items inside of the apartment were damaged and some personal items were taken.
A police K-9 dog was requested to assist with tracking Rodriguez. A Massachusetts state police trooper and his K-9 “Brutis” responded to assist. A Northborough police officer and the trooper followed “Brutis” through the swampy area of Cold Brook Meadow before finding Rodriguez lying down in the swamp in an attempt to escape apprehension. Rodriguez resisted arrest and assaulted the K-9 while being arrested by the Northborough Police. Rodriguez is charged with breaking and entering in the night time to commit a felony, larceny from a building, resisting arrest, animal cruelty, and disorderly conduct. Rodriguez was also arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant.
According to the police report, Rodriguez needed medical treatment for a K-9 bite.
