Get in Shape for Women participates in Corridor Nine 5K

Northborough – Five women represented Get in Shape for Women – Northborough during the 20th annual Corridor Nine Chamber of Commerce 5K Sept. 21. Over 390 runners of all ages participated in the event, which was held at the Marion E. Zeh School as part of the town's Applefest celebration. Get in Shape for Women was one of the vendors at the Applefest Street Fair as well.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Westborough's second annual Holiday Stroll 2013

Westborough – Plans are now being formulated for the second annual Holiday Stroll in downtown Westborough. Nicolina Sabatini, owner of Nicolina's Fine Clothing, Unique Jewelry & Gifts, 9 South St. and Faris Casten owner of Faris Farm Flowers, 15 South St., are coordinating the details of this event which will include fantastic discounts at local stores as well as plenty of holiday cheer. (The event date is still to be determined.)

The event was so successful last year the women are inviting other business owners to join them this year. They will be promoting the event via a group ad and multiple mentions in other sections of the Community Advocate's newspaper and online at communityadvocate.com.

Space will be limited so get your reservation in now for only $99 for a black and white spot! (Color ads are extra.)

Christina's Café is now under new management

Westborough – Christina's Café, 20 South St., is now under new management. Since March 2013, Nader and Nevine AbdelMalek, a dedicated husband and wife team, have been serving up scrumptious breakfast and lunch meals to their patrons in their warm and inviting family-oriented restaurant.

“Good service and customer satisfaction are always priorities,” Nevine said.

The owners would also like to partner with businesses within Westborough and neighboring towns to offer them special brunch/lunch options for their catering needs.

A special feature of the restaurant is a room in the back of the restaurant, which can be used for small private parties or functions.

The restaurant is open seven days a week, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call 508-366-7713.

United Bank to hold Family Fest Oct. 12

Westborough – United Bank is teaming up with WSRS and the Boroughs Family branch of the YMCA to host Family Fest, Saturday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will be held at United Bank's 6 Church St., Northborough location.

Greg Byrne from WSRS will be handing out passes to the Wachusett Mt. Applefest and Heather from the YMCA will demonstrate how to make fitness fun for the entire family.

There will also be a pumpkin painting table with cider and donuts, and visitors can enter to win a prize-pack that includes a gift basket from a local farm, a three-month “Y” family membership and two entries to the YMCA's Spooktacular 5K run/walk to be held Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Boroughs Family Branch YMCA, 4 Valente Drive, Westborough.
