Marlborough on the rise

cartoon 10.4 rsMarlborough – The city has made much progress over the last two years attracting major businesses such as the TJX Companies, Boston Scientific and Quest Diagnostics to Marlborough. Officials are also concerned, however, about revitalizing the downtown area to make it a more vital and energized part of the city.

Recently a group from the Urban Land Institute paid a visit to meet with local leaders and business people to conduct research for a proposal on ways to improve and enhance the downtown. Preliminary suggestions include changing the parking requirements and lane signals, creating more pedestrian and bicycle paths and negotiating with the U.S. Post Office to move its distribution center to another location.

The study is being paid for with a $5,000 grant obtained by the Marlborough Economic Development Corporation from MassDevelopment.
