Marlborough Fire Department responds to early morning structure fire
Marlborough Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 38 Lakeshore Drive early Tuesday morning. The Public Safety Dispatch Center received the initial 911 call at 2:55 AM, Engine 1, Engine 2, Engine 3, Tower 1, Rescue 1 and Car 2 responded. There was heavy fire showing on arrival, the box was struck at 3:01 AM, recalling off duty personnel to staff the City’s reserve apparatus. Car 1 responded and assumed command of the fire.
During the course of the fire, Engine 4, Engine 5 and Ladder 2 were special called to the scene; Southborough Fire provided an Engine to the city for mutual aid. At one point in the blaze, all personnel fighting the fire from inside were ordered out of the building and master streams were used to darken down the fire.
Two residents of the home were transported to Marlborough Hospital for evaluation; there were no reported injuries to fire personnel.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Marlborough Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. A firewatch detail has been established at the scene while the investigation continues.
There were four fire incidents that occurred while the fire was in progress, a medical emergency on Briarwood Lane, a fire alarm activation at 313 Boston Post Road West, a reported motor vehicle accident (car vs deer) on Maple Street that was unfounded and a report of wires down in the vicinity of 300 Cedar Hill Street.
