Obit Richard FerroMarlborough – Richard M. Ferro, 70 of Marlborough, died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Christine (Clark) Ferro, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years.

Dick, as he was known by all, was born in Quincy, the son of the late Mario and Rose (Ferrazzi) Ferro of Marlborough. He was raised in Marlborough and graduated from Marlborough High School in 1962. He attended Suffolk University, Boston and served in the Massachusetts National Guard. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion.

He was the proud father of three children, Stacy Slattery and her husband John of Kingston, Julie Eagan and her husband Peter of Tiverton, R.I., and Paul Ferro of Marlborough. He was an adoring grandfather to Jack and Paige Slattery and William Eagan and the brother to three cherished sisters, Joanne and her late husband Dr. Takashi Okagaki, Alice William (Willis) and MaryBeth Ferro (David) and the uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dick followed in his father's footsteps working in the construction industry. He was a skilled and admired craftsman. He started in the home building business with his father Mario, of Ferro and Son Construction later owning his own company, Ferro Construction Company for 25 years before retiring.

Dick loved to travel with family and friends to Maine, Aruba, and Disney World. He also enjoyed many trips to Foxwoods with good friends. He was an avid hunter his entire life. He enjoyed hunting deer, pheasant, wild boar and bear. He also spent many happy hours fishing and golfing. He was a longtime New England Patriots season ticket holder; he never missed watching a game. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, Christine and family, especially his grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, from 4 – 7 p.m., at the Slattery Funeral Home, 40 Pleasant St., Marlborough. A funeral service will be held Friday, Nov. 15, at 11:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street in Marlborough.
