Northborough Police charge man in alleged assault with firearm
At 2:07 p.m. this afternoon, Northborough Police received a 911 call from a Belmont St. residence reporting that a female who resides at a neighboring Belmont St. residence had been physically assaulted by her domestic partner (Jose Aguilar, age 32), who had also threatened her with an assault-style rifle. Officers responded and secured the safety of the female victim, while others went to the other Belmont St. residence to locate the assailant.
After a period of negotiation, the male agreed to throw the rifle out the door and surrender. He was taken into custody. The female victim was transported by Northborough Fire Department ambulance to a Worcester hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening. The male assailant began complaining of chest pains and was also transported by a second NFD ambulance to a different Worcester hospital.
Our detectives continue to interview both subjects. We were assisted by members of the Northborough Fire Department, as well as members of the State, Westborough, and Shrewsbury police departments. The assault rifle was determined to be a highly accurate assault weapon replica Air-Soft pellet gun with no orange safety tip on the barrel.
Jose Aguilar is charged with:
Assault with intent to murder
Assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (two counts)
Assault and Battery Domestic
Possession of a large capacity feeding device
