Westborough – The downtown area around the town's rotary will once again be lit up for the holiday season thanks to the Rotary Club of Westborough. The public is invited to the kickoff of the Festival Lights on Sunday, Dec. 1, starting at approximately 5 p.m.
As they have done for many years, the Rotary Club, as a service project, has provided funding for lights to be lit up in the pear trees around the town's downtown area near the rotary.? The kickoff, which is always the Sunday after Thanksgiving, has also become a popular tradition for Westborough families.
“The Rotary Club is the main sponsor for the event,” Adam Boyce, a Rotary member said. “This year, Carruth Capital and the Westborough Civic Club also made generous donations.”
A chorus from Westborough High School will lead the public in a festive “Holiday Sing” at the event.? Santa Claus will once again be arriving via a fire engine, courtesy of the Westborough Fire Department, at approximately 5:30 p.m., to meet with children and hear their holiday wishes. Parents are invited to bring their cameras to take photos.
Hot chocolate and cookies will be provided at no cost for all those attend and candy canes will be given to the children.
