24th Evening of Giving to be held Dec. 5

83896734Marlborough – The 24th Evening of Giving, in support of Roland’s House, the Marlborough-Hudson homeless shelter, will be held Thursday, December 5, at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel, Route 20 in Marlborough.

An elaborate variety of international dishes, as well as popular traditional cooking will be featured, including the popular shrimp and raw bar, hosted by Chef Leon Roberge.  Trombetta’ s ice cream, tasty pastries, and new menu items will also be available.  Music for listening and dancing pleasure will be provided by Insufficient Funds in the lounge and Matt Rutting, popular DJ, in the main ballroom.

Anyone wishing to serve on the committee is welcome.  Contact committee chair Bob Kays at the Prospector Bar and Grill, 520 Lincoln St., at 508-485-9072.  Table reservations are now being accepted and can be secured by calling Paulina Lynch at 508-485-3741. Tickets are $30 each and $300 for a table of 10.  Restaurants and other food distributors who are interested in providing a food booth may contact Ivette Mesmar at the Santander (formerly Sovereign) Bank, 181 Main St., Marlborough, 508-485-2898.

The annual raffle is being held with a first prize of $5,000, one $1,000 prize, and three $500 prizes. Only 300 tickets will be sold and are available, $50 each, by contacting Kays or Lynch.

Roland’s House on Mechanic St. has received more than $600,000 in proceeds from the annual event held during the past 23 years. The funds are used to support the shelter in assisting homeless individuals in finding their way back to the working world and financial and emotional stability. There is currently an influx of young veterans who have served their country and are having difficulty adjusting to a new life.
