Public hearing on Sky High Studios to be held Jan. 13

Marlborough – A special permit application on behalf of Sandra and Anthony Antico Real Estate and Sky High Studios has been scheduled to be addressed at a public hearing during the Jan. 13 City Council meeting to consider allowing use of the property at 289 Elm St. for an open commercial recreation establishment.

Phantom Gourmet speaks at MRCC meeting

Marlborough – Dave Andelman is a famous food aficionado who loves to eat out and as such, makes over a thousand restaurant visits each year. As his alter ego, the “Phantom Gourmet,” he visits local restaurants to profile on his popular television show that airs weekly on TV38 and WBZ4 in Boston. Recently he spoke at a Marlborough Regional Chamber of Commerce meeting where he told tales of his exciting adventures in the culinary world.

Cancer survivors strengthen their bodies and minds at Boroughs Y

Region – Launched nationally in 2008, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA began in April 2013 at the Boroughs Family Branch YMCA in Westborough. A collaboration between the YMCA of the USA and the LIVESTRONG Foundation, it's a physical and wellbeing initiative that helps participants affected by cancer strengthen their bodies and minds. Overseeing the program locally is Wellness Director Christine Salovardos.

Westborough Community Chorus director continues her 12th season

Westborough – As the director of the Westborough Community Chorus (WCC), Deb Lukey followed in the footsteps of her longtime mentor, Faith Newark.

“Faith was my choir director at the Congregational Church [of Westborough] from when I was in the first grade all the way through high school,” she said.

Broadway actress appears in hometown of Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – Fresh from singing alongside Carrie Underwood in NBC-TV's “The Sound of Music Live,” Catherine Brunell visited her hometown and appeared Dec. 27 at the Shrewsbury Public Library. She spoke about her theater experience from Shrewsbury to Broadway and sang several show tunes. Accompanying her on piano was Michael Lapomardo, a music and theater teacher at Shrewsbury High School (SHS).

Among the familiar faces Brunell acknowledged that evening was Richard Monroe, her first voice teacher when she was age 13. He now teaches at St. John's High School.
