Obit-Flag_USE-THIS-ONE4Hudson – Edward Berthiaume, of Hudson, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013 at the age of 76. He was born in Boston in 1937.

While serving in the U.S. Army, he met Sharon Gallwas of Tacoma, Washington, and they wed in 1962. He applied his work ethic, determination, and intelligence to a 30-year career at New England Life Insurance Company, from which he retired as Senior Vice President.

He and his brother Walter raised their families together in a two-family home in Newton, where he lived for the majority of his life.

In addition to Sharon, his loving wife of 51 years, he is survived by his three children, Laura Crowley of Waltham, Paul Berthiaume of Ashland, and Michael Berthiaume of Woburn; his son-in-law, Robert Crowley of Waltham, and daughter-in-law, Joanne Berthiaume of Ashland; his aunts, Eleanor Egan of Milton and Barbara Sanuth of New Hampshire; and his six beloved grandchildren, Amanda, Jackie, Brian, Joseph, Caroline, and Jeff.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 9 a.m., in Saint Michael's Church, 21 Manning St., Hudson. Burial will follow in Saint Michael's Cemetery of Hudson. Family and friends may attend calling hours Monday, Dec. 16, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, 50 Central St., Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edward may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
