Northborough Police seek suspect for alleged shoplifting and attempted assault by vehicle

Police 2Northborough – The Northborough Police Department issued this statement last night:

On 12/22/13 at approximately 1900 Ofc. Donahue responded to Amazing Superstore and Smoke Shop located at 15 Belmont Street (Rte. 9 westbound) for a report of a shoplifting.  It was also reported that when the suspect left the parking lot he drove at employees.  It was reported that the suspect exited the store with a glass smoking pipe after it was handed to him to inspect.  When fleeing the lot, the suspect drove his vehicle at one of the store employees who left the store to get the number plate of the suspect’s vehicle.  The vehicle left by driving east in the westbound lanes of Rte. 9.  The suspect has been preliminarily identified but has yet to be located and interviewed.  It is expected he will be charged with Shoplifting, Assault with a dangerous weapon, Operating recklessly so as to endanger and Violation of MA DOT rules and regulations.
