Marlborough – Raymond Allison Shoop III, 66, of Marlborough, passed away at home Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 after a long period of battling cancer. He was the son of Mary Jane (Fletcher) Shoop and Raymond A. Shoop Jr. of Boiling Springs, Penn.

Mr. Shoop was employed as a computer programmer for the former Digital Corp. in Marlborough for 30 years and was still working in a similar capacity for the Adcole Corp. until recently.

He enjoyed flying and held a private pilot's license. He also was a HAM radio operator for many years – K3ZFB in the early years, and N1CW more recently. Aside from his family, his favorite hobby was building and restoring “G” gauge model railroads.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Leilani Ann (Lamp) Shoop.? He is also survived by his son, Raymond Shoop IV and wife Anastasia of Bridgewater; his daughter, Melissa Sylvester and husband Douglas of Marlborough; his brothers, Martin and Jeff Shoop, both of Pennsylvania; his sister, Patricia Edling of California; and many nieces and nephews.

A Viewing will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 5 – 8 p.m., at the William R. Short and Son Funeral Home, 95 West Main St., Marlborough. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family.
