Region – For the third year in a row, the local United Way is accepting nominations for the 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award honoring local do-gooders for their commitment to volunteerism and passion for creating positive change in our community.

For the first time this year, a second award will be presented, the 2014 Youth Volunteer of the Year, to an area youth attending a local high school between the ages 12 and 18 who exemplifies the spirit and commitment of improving the quality of life for others in the community.

Awardees will be recognized at the United Way's 2014 Recognition Event, “In Focus: Gaining a New Perspective on our Community,” Thursday, April 10, at the Sheraton Framingham.

Nominations can be submitted through the United Way of Tri-County's website, http://www.uwotc.org/nominate, through Feb. 28.
