No McMansion for me…
By Michelle Gillespie, Realtor, Prudential Prime Properties
Most of today’s new construction boasts large, McMansion style homes. While this style home offers large over-sized, exciting floor plans along with designs tailored for specific lifestyles, complete with a huge array of features, the majority of buyers in today’s market cannot afford these properties.
There is another option if you are looking for a top of the line home but don’t want an oversized box. How about thinking of a completely different approach? Try looking at a medium-sized, high-quality home with an abundance of character in a well-developed neighborhood.
I am presenting to you a beautifully designed, New England cape-style home. This home has been updated with an open design addition that includes a kitchen, dining room and family room that overlooks a picturesque back yard. The home boasts a chef-style kitchen with custom cabinetry, hardwood floors and high-end, energy efficient appliances, including gas cooking, a convection oven and stainless steel appliances. The huge granite center isle has a sink area and breakfast bar. Off of the kitchen is a mudroom with hardwood floors, floor to ceiling closets and an entranceway.
The open floor plan has the kitchen facing the dining room and family room with an abundance of natural light flowing throughout. The family room has a gas stove and ceiling fan, hardwood floors, exposed beams and French doors that lead to a Trex deck and a beautifully landscaped back yard and pool area. The dining room has hardwood floors, a wrought iron chandelier and seats 12. French doors lead to the formal living room that is tastefully decorated with gleaming hardwood floors and natural light. It is a great room to relax and enjoy a book in.
The home has four bedrooms and two full bathrooms. There are two bedrooms on the first floor, both with hardwood floors and closets. The second two bedrooms are located on the upper floor. The master suite has a master bathroom that includes his and her vanities, tile bath and shower, granite counter top and a private commode area. The master suite also has a large walk-in closet which includes built-in shoe racks. Both second floor bedrooms have wall-to-wall carpet with hardwood floors in the hallway. The second bathroom is beautifully decorated and includes full shower and bath, pedestal sink, linen closet and tile floor.
The basement area has been remodeled into a media room with surround sound and office area, a laundry room, a work-shop area and access to an in-ground pool. The color choices throughout the home are aesthetically pleasing. The roof has been updated with a 25- year architectural shingles. Additionally, there are new Anderson windows and doors.
Not only has the interior of the home been beautifully designed and maintained, but the backyard is also an oasis that anyone would enjoy. With a private, fenced-in yard, manicured lawn, and you can enjoy the summer months by the beautiful in-ground pool. This is a great outdoor area for relaxing or gathering with friends and family.
The property is located on a quiet street in a mature, tree-lined neighborhood, close to the town center, shopping mall and major highways. The local elementary school is within walking distance.
This home shows the pride, care and attention to detail the owners have taken over the years with this property. From the time I walked in the door, this property possessed the “wow factor.”
