Westborough – Mike Lawler and Art Sharkey, parishioners at the Congregational Church of Westborough, recently returned earlier this month from a week-long mission trip to Haiti. They spent the week working with John and Beth McHoul, founders of Heartline Ministries.

Lawler and Sharkey worked at a Heartline facility that had a bakery, a discipleship program and English language classes, and will have in the future also be home to a maternity center, cooking classes and a restaurant.? Their work included painting, carpentry, landscaping and locksmithing.

At the Heartline Guest House, the two men met other volunteers from 10 different states and Canada as well as families who are in the process of adopting children from Haiti.

“It was a personally rewarding experience that we hope to repeat next year,” Sharkey said.
