Shrewsbury – Mikey LaCroix, 15, who competes out of Ski Ward, placed third in the country for boardercross amongst 14 and 15 year olds at the recent United States of America Snowboard and Freeski Association National Championship held in Copper, Colo.

Boardercross is a snowboard competition in which a group of snowboarders start as a group and then race each other down a winding, inclined course.

Mikey received the bronze medal from Alex Deibold, who won the bronze medalist for boardercross in the Sochi Olympics.

Prior to medaling, Mikey was ranked 16th in the nation for Boardercross; he is also the 2014 Massachusetts Series Champion.

He is the son of Ski Ward Ski Area owner John LaCroix.
