Luz Dulmaine, of Shrewsbury

Shrewsbury – Luz (de los Rios) Dulmaine, of Shrewsbury, died Friday, April 11, 2014 in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus. Her husband of 42 years, Richard T. Dulmaine, died in 2008.

She leaves her two children, Richard A. Dulmaine of Hopedale and Jacqueline A. Dulmaine of Belgium; two grandchildren, Saskia and Roeland, both of Belgium; a sister, Connie Rodriguez of Miami; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Maria and Nena, and four brothers.

Luz was born and raised in Cuba, daughter of the late Andres and Adela (Varela) de los Rios. She graduated from high school and attended a secretarial college in Cuba before her family immigrated to the United States in 1952.

She lived in Miami, Fla. and Lake George, N.Y. for several years before meeting and marrying her husband, Richard. They then moved to Massachusetts to be closer to his family and settled in Shrewsbury in 1972.

When Luz lived in Miami she had worked as an administrative assistant for a mortgage company. When moving her family to Shrewsbury, she became a full-time mother and homemaker, a job she treasured.
