Obit Eleanor MooseyShrewsbury -?Dr. Eleanor R. Moosey, 89, died Wednesday, May 7, 2014 after a brief illness.

Born in Worcester, the oldest of five children to John and Anne (Adams), she lived in Shrewsbury more than 60 years. A graduate of Worcester State University with a Bachelor of Science degree, she earned a Master of Arts degree and Doctor of Education degree from Boston University.

She was appointed to the Worcester Public Schools in 1946 as an elementary teacher. During her career in the Worcester Public Schools, she was a guidance counselor, school psychologist and Supervisor of Pupil Personnel Services.

In 1972, she was appointed a Central Regional Administrator by the State Department of Mental Health. In 1986, she was appointed the Superintendent of the Irving Glavin Regional Center in Shrewsbury, from which she retired in 1988.

Dr. Moosey was an adjunct instructor at Worcester State University and a presenter at professional conferences. For many years, she conducted a private practice in Worcester, Shrewsbury, and on Cape Cod.

She is survived by her sisters, Doryce Moosey and Edith Shea and her husband James, and a brother John and his wife Barbara, all of Shrewsbury. She was a beloved aunt to Joanne Preston and her husband Michael of Medway, John J. Moosey and his wife Mila of Harrisburg, Penn., Paul Moosey and his wife Cindy of Sturbridge, Peter Moosey of Colorado Springs, Co., William Moosey and his wife Lori of Sutton, and James J. Shea and his wife Sonja of Duarte, Ca; three grandnephews, one grandniece, and nephew. She also leaves her devoted nurse, Eunice Kowalczyk. She was predeceased by her brother, Joseph, and nephew, Jay.

Family and friends will honor and remember Eleanor's life by gathering for a calling hour Monday, May 12, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m., at Heald & Chiampa Funeral Directors ~ The Sumner House, 5 Church Road, On the Common, Shrewsbury Center, before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury, where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Teresa's name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 or a charity of one's choice.
