To the Editor:
I urge the residents of Shrewsbury to vote YES on June 3 for the $5.5 million override. The override has the unanimous support of the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee, and the School Committee. A yes vote will provide the town with additional revenue to support both municipal and school services, including reducing the large class sizes across the school district. I urge all voters, including those residents who do not have children in the school system, to make it a priority to vote yes. I am voting yes because even with this increase in our property tax, Shrewsbury's average residential tax bill will remain in the low range when compared both regionally and to all Massachusetts towns of similar size and complexity. We are all stewards of the community and what better way to reflect this than by voting yes. For those supporters who may be unable to vote on June 3, absentee ballots are available at town hall through noon on Monday, June 2.
