Region – “Fedoras and Flappers” was the theme of the Corridor Nine Area Chamber of Commerce’s Ultimate Networking and Oscar Awards Breakfast held at Cyprian Keyes Golf Club May 15. Corridor Nine embraced the “Roaring Twenties” with nearly 200 members and guests in attendance. The event was sponsored by Avidia Bank, Middlesex Savings Bank, Sigma7 Group and Mirick O’Connell.

The program included presenting awards to members for their outstanding achievements and service to the chamber. Award recipients included: Eli Whitney Business of the Year Award to Knight’s Airport Limousine Service; Chairman’s Award to Deborah Penta, PENTA Marketing; and Ambassador of the Year to Jimmie Ames of Avidia Bank.

Former Corridor Nine president Barbara Clifford, who stepped down in April, was recognized for her leadership and accomplishments as the chamber’s head for the last 12 years. She was presented with a new award named in her honor, the “Cliffy Award,” which will be presented to a member annually for their outstanding leadership.

During the program, Clifford was also honored with a special musical tribute by the “Cliff Notes.”  The Cliff Notes were comprised of the current and former chairmen of Corridor Nine from the last 12 years, as well as Karen Chapman, the chamber’s new president. The group performed Cole Porter’s song “You’re the Top” accompanied by pianist and singer Ed McCarron.
